Ingredients

  • Flour
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 3 Lamb Shanks
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Pimenton Picante
  • 1 big Onion, cut fine
  • 2 Garlic Cloves, cut very fine
  • 2 Carrots, cut fine
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander
  • 1/2 tsp Allspice
  • 4 - 5 plum Tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 cups Chicken Broth
  • 100ml Red Wine

Instructions

  1. Salt and pepper the lamb shanks, and cover with flour, brown them in a heavy casserole dish.
  2. Remove lamb shanks and fry onion, garlic and carrots, add spices and fry for about 3 minutes.
  3. Add tomatoes, chicken broth, and red wine, bring to the boil, and put in the lamb shanks, cover and braise in the oven for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
  4. Serve with mashed potatoes, vegetables and salad.
